Sweet!
Question: I would like to build along with this group, using the same materials and what I think should be the same building techniques and methods, but since I already have a Fled, I'd like to do a Flare. Should be almost the same build, but I'd use different patterns. My thinking in terms of how I would post/participate would not be to post and/or illustrate differences in the kites - I could do that later in a different thread so as not to dirty up the project - but to do the same things in the same order and participate in discussions regarding the building techniques and other other questions.
Should I register or should I just do that "on my own" while following along with the forum project? I'd even use the same materials. _________________ Simon

Hi Fore Check,
I think you should register, it's the best way to participate, You are right, if you build a flare, the techniques, pockets, etc could be done in a similar fashion
Cheers,

Me too. I still don't know my way around the site to get all that stuff. But then, maybe thats how I'll learn
I am looking foraward to this kite. I think I might use the really light Ripstop. The kite clublet that I am in are always competing to keep a kite in the air in the least amount of wind. _________________ www.dwilkinsondesign.com

I'd say your fabric choice (.5 oz) and the recommended spars (SkyShark P200's and P300's) will fix you up with a very "competitive" kite! _________________ Simon

Hello all,
I think Steve will be putting together a kit, I am not sure if it will include notions but it will certainly include framing.
I really like the P200s they are light and rigid enough, I think, for the light wind conditions this kite was designed for. I had mine out, for only about 30 mins, in 30km/h with heavy gusts and the spars made out fine. I wouldn't make a habit of flying it in those wind coniditons.
Cheers,

Hi All,
I'm planning to build this kite but by scalling it up a little in order to take full advantages of 2 meters long Carbon tube.
My overall dimensions will be 1.96 * 2.66 meters (compares to the 1.65 * 2.47 meter for the size proposed) with a base unit of 0.28m
Do you think 6mm diameters longerons and 8mm diameters spreader will be sufficent or do I take 8mm longerons with 10mm spreader?
I'm planning to flight the kite mainly in light wind
Thank you for your feedback
(and best wishes for 2009 for all of you and your family)
