Interesting edge binding method...

I need to study the velcro retention further. That's something I want to pick up on for sure.

Thanks Bill!

The edge binding method looks like it has a lot of steps but I find it quite quick.

Cheers,
Bill

Bill, what method do you use for edgebinding curves?

I bought a tape gun Dancing

This method looks just as fast as Blue Taping each side in a similar fashion.

I bought some bonded polyester thread from Steve, do I still need to make an oiler, since I will be using the seam tape?

Also, what tape is good?
I suppose like everything, it depends, huh?
I bought some #924 and #969.
I am told that the 924 is "repositional" and 969 "ain't goin' nowhere".

Hi Bitter,

Great stuff..

The oiler will help when sewing through the adhesive. You can do with out it, but you may need to de-goo your needle once in a while with a cotton swab and some goo-gone or other goo remover.

I use 924 for almost everything.

Cheers,
Bill

Secure your longeron tunnel reinforcements with a small strip of double sided tape along top.

Bill,

What is the size of this re-inforcement? (1" X 2 3/4")?

They should be 1" x 1-3/4", they are in week one, but labeled as reinforcements for the spine tunnels. sorry for the confusion...

Cheers,
Bill

Thank you.

Bill, In week 2, can you please put a link to the digram "Longeron detail.vwx" so we can print just that page? (Like you did in week 1 for the "Panels, Reinforcements".)

Woops.. I missed this question Bitter...

How do I edge bind curves... mostly I try and avoid it. LOL. It depends on the fabric used for binding. The last time I had to do it I used bias cut 1.5 oz Ripstop, that seemed to work well. I have done it with the heavy gross-grain that Steve has and it's not a lot of fun. You have to ease it in as you go around the curves, pre folding and bending, and re-bending helps. There are a number of other techniques that have been presented on the forum as well.

Cheers,
Bill
